Wall Street Journal Reports Trump Eyes Oman as Scapegoat for Iran Deal Failures

The Wall Street Journal has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly seeking to blame Oman for the perceived failure to secure a deal with Iran, raising concerns about the strategic Strait of Hormuz. This comes amidst previous threats made by Trump against the Gulf nation.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The Wall Street Journal has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump is looking to place the blame for his administration’s difficulties in reaching an agreement with Iran on Oman. Sources familiar with the matter indicated that Trump is searching for a scapegoat to hold responsible for the challenges encountered in the Iran negotiations.

The report further suggests that some senior U.S. officials believe Trump’s strategy involves sacrificing Oman. The United States has expressed concerns that a potential agreement between Iran and Oman could strengthen Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway that the White House is actively seeking to keep open.

Previously, Trump had issued several threats to bomb Oman in the context of ongoing discussions between Muscat and Tehran concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
