OIC Condemns Israeli Settlement Expansion Project E1

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, has condemned the Israeli regime’s action in publishing a tender for the construction of 1,234 new settlement units within the framework of the so-called E1 plan in occupied Jerusalem. This announcement was based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing the Palestinian Information Center.
In a statement, Taha emphasized that this move represents a continuation of colonial settlement policies, annexation, forced displacement, and the imposition of new realities aimed at altering the legal, political, and demographic status of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The OIC Secretary-General warned of the extremely dangerous repercussions of the E1 plan, adding that the project subjects Palestinian Bedouin communities to forced displacement, severs occupied Jerusalem from its surrounding Palestinian environment, and simultaneously undermines the territorial unity of Palestine and international efforts to achieve a two-state solution.
Ibrahim Taha reiterated that Israeli colonial settlements in the Palestinian territories are illegal and illegitimate under international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, including Security Council Resolution 2334 and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
He concluded by calling on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and take immediate action to compel the occupation power, Israel, to adhere to its international obligations and immediately cease all organized crimes and violations against the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.
