Georgia’s Ruling Party Explains Stance on Not Joining EU Sanctions Against Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a parliamentary representative for the “Georgian Dream” party, addressed questions regarding Georgia’s decision not to join the European Union’s sanctions against Iran. He emphasized that Georgia’s actions in international affairs are exclusively guided by the principle of national interest.
Sharmanashvili pointed out that other EU candidate countries, such as Turkey and Serbia, have also not joined the sanctions imposed on Iran, highlighting a common strategic approach among nations prioritizing their own economic and geopolitical considerations.
The Georgian official further stated that Tbilisi will not undertake any action that contradicts Georgia’s interests. He asserted that every potential action must first pass the test of whether it aligns with national interests. “If we determine that it is not, we will not do it. Let everyone know this!” Sharmanashvili declared.
