Jordan and Qatar Condemn Israeli Minister’s Al-Aqsa Mosque Incursion
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the foreign ministries of Jordan and Qatar have issued strong condemnations against the incursion by Itamar Ben-Gvir, an extremist minister of the Israeli regime, and a number of Israeli settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, an act reportedly supported by Israeli police. Both nations described the incident as a clear violation of international law and the historical and legal conditions governing the mosque.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement condemning Ben-Gvir’s and the settlers’ violation of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, declaring it a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable provocation to the sentiments of millions of Muslims worldwide. The ministry emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims and that any unilateral actions aimed at altering the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its holy sites are void and without legal standing under international law.
Doha warned that the continuation of these incursions and provocative actions could escalate the cycle of violence and tension in the region, jeopardizing opportunities for peace and stability. The statement further called on the international community to take immediate action to compel the Israeli regime to cease its ongoing aggressions against the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and to adhere to relevant international resolutions. Qatar reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the resilience of the Palestinian people, calling for an end to the occupation and the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Meanwhile, Fuad Al-Majali, the spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the incursion by Ben-Gvir and settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque constitutes a clear violation of the historical and legal conditions governing the holy site, desecrating it and representing an unacceptable provocative act and escalation of tension. He stressed that Jordan strongly condemns the continued incursions by Israeli ministers, officials, and settlers into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, their provocative actions, and the facilitation of these incursions by the Israeli police. Al-Majali characterized these actions as a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, warning that the Israeli regime is attempting to impose new realities and pave the way for the temporal and spatial division of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Majali cautioned against the repercussions of the continued aggression against Islamic and Christian holy sites and the violation of the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy places, emphasizing that the Israeli regime holds no sovereignty over the occupied city of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites. The spokesperson for Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that the entire area of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jerusalem Endowments Administration and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, is the sole legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction over managing all affairs of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and regulating entry to it. He urged the international community to adopt a firm stance and obligate the Israeli regime, as the occupying power, to cease its continuous violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and to end the provocative actions by Israeli officials and settlers. The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored that these actions are part of the policies of the Israeli regime’s government and contribute to a dangerous escalation of tensions in the occupied West Bank.
