US Approves $5.75 Billion Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of State has announced its approval for potential arms sales to Saudi Arabia valued at approximately $5 billion. This includes Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended Range (JDAM-ER) tail kits and separate sales of AGT-150 engines worth $750 million.

The State Department stated that the proposed sales would enhance Saudi Arabia’s readiness, its ability to support operational requirements, and the capabilities necessary for improving interoperability and executing bilateral programs during emergencies. These measures aim to increase Saudi Arabia’s capacity to counter current and future threats.

Boeing is designated as the principal contractor for the JDAM-ER systems, while Honeywell will serve as the principal contractor for the AGT-150 engines.

Concurrently, Washington has also approved two additional arms deals for Oman and Iraq. The U.S. Department of State confirmed the potential sale of F-16 fighter jet support and maintenance services to Oman, estimated at around $188 million.

Furthermore, another potential sale worth $150 million for the acquisition of Bell 412EPX helicopters to Iraq has been approved.
