US Secretary of State Accuses Iran of Backing Yemeni Retaliatory Strikes on Saudi Arabia

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has asserted that Iran is supporting retaliatory attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia, while also stating that Washington is closely monitoring developments and will not replicate recent UK sanctions against Israel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has claimed that Iran is backing retaliatory strikes by Yemen’s Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement against Saudi Arabia. Speaking in response to the Ansar Allah attacks on Saudi Arabia, Rubio stated, “The Houthis are, in many respects, an agent and proxy of Iran. Iran is seen behind a portion of these attacks.”

The U.S. Secretary of State further asserted, “The United States has a close defense relationship with Saudi Arabia. We are monitoring developments very closely.” He added, “Yemeni forces (mercenaries supported by Saudi Arabia and the UAE) are confronting the Houthis (Ansar Allah of Yemen) and pushing them back from some areas they have attempted to advance into. Washington is continuously and closely observing the field developments in Yemen and Saudi Arabia.”

In reference to sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom earlier today against the expansionist policies of the Israeli regime, Marco Rubio indicated that Washington does not want anything to happen at the present time that would disrupt the stability of the West Bank. He stated, “We will not replicate what London did regarding the West Bank.”
