Iraq Orders Immediate Investigation into Saudi Oil Pipeline Attack

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq has ordered an immediate investigation into alleged attacks on a Saudi oil pipeline, with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani directing legal action against any party found to be involved. The Iraqi government condemned the alleged assaults on the Saudi oil transmission line, emphasizing that any transgression undermining the security, stability, or ‘brotherly relations’ between the two nations is unacceptable. Baghdad also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s stance and its positive response to Iraq’s efforts to de-escalate the situation, viewing it as a testament to Riyadh’s commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, and the continuation of fraternal relations and cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.

In a related development, the official Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani dismissed the commander of operations in Maysan province, from which the attack on the Saudi oil pipeline was reportedly launched. Al-Sudani also ordered the formation of an investigative committee following the incident. Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had stated that ‘drones launched from Iraq targeted the Riyadh-Medina Munawarah pipeline,’ adding that Riyadh would not respond to the attack at this time, as per the request of the Iraqi Prime Minister. The ministry further declared in a statement, ‘We reserve our right to take all necessary measures to protect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security, and vital installations.’
