Ted Cruz: No US troop deployment to Iran likely; warns of economic fallout

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Republican Senator Ted Cruz, in an interview with Politico, warned about the economic repercussions of a potential conflict with Iran, emphasizing that any military engagement in the Middle East would inevitably drive up gasoline prices.

Cruz added that there is almost no possibility of President Trump turning Iran into another Iraq. He expressed his belief that Trump would not deploy hundreds of thousands of American military personnel for a prolonged occupation or attempt to transform the country into a “democratic utopia.” The American senator stated that he strongly opposes such an idea.

“I ask him not to do that, but I do not need to fight him to prevent it, because he does not intend to do it,” Cruz commented.

The report indicated that Cruz’s remarks came as President Donald Trump rejected the notion of attempting to turn Iran into what critics describe as a democratic utopia, and he did not accept comparisons of such an action to the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
