Oman’s Grand Mufti Warns of Critical Danger Amid Regional Turmoil
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Oman‘s Grand Mufti, Ahmed Al-Khalili, has described the recent resurgence of conflict in Yemen as one of the gravest trials for the Islamic Ummah, a sentiment he also applies to the persistent crises in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Al-Khalili expressed deep concern over the significant tribulations afflicting the Islamic world. He highlighted the renewed violence in Yemen, where brethren are now engaged in conflict with one another, in addition to the existing adversities faced in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran. The Mufti lamented the inability of Yemeni wisdom to prevent bloodshed and foster unity, urging Yemenis to return to reason and governance, mend their internal relationships, and forge a united and prosperous Yemen. He also cautioned against malicious actors or those acting out of ignorance or negligence from sowing discord and animosity among the Yemeni people.
Al-Khalili further voiced his sorrow regarding the pronouncements made by certain Muslim scholars. He noted his disappointment with scholars who direct criticism towards a group that, since its inception, has steadfastly confronted the Zionist regime with full commitment and dedication, striving for the liberation of Islamic holy sites and the oppressed Palestinian people through their lives and possessions.
The Grand Mufti asserted that such commentary was inappropriate and that the Islamic Ummah must not divert its attention from confronting the perilous occupation by focusing on peripheral issues during this sensitive period. He implored esteemed scholars to prioritize the primary concern: the liberation of usurped Islamic holy sites. He urged them to apply their time-honored wisdom to address this critical issue before it escalates further and becomes intractable, emphasizing that the situation has reached a level of danger that leaves even the most patient hearts filled with profound sorrow.
