US CENTCOM Commander Meets Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah Amid Regional Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA reported that Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman hosted General Erik M. Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), in Jeddah on Monday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
SPA indicated that the two sides also reviewed the latest regional developments. This engagement takes place as Saudi-aligned forces in Yemen have reportedly suffered considerable setbacks, and Riyadh’s appeals for further military backing have been met with a refusal from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Earlier reports from Israel’s Channel 12 had indicated that Saudi Arabia had requested military support from Washington. However, President Donald Trump has reportedly opposed direct military strikes against Ansarallah, according to an Associated Press report.
