Hamas Warns of Escalating Israeli Aggression on Al-Aqsa Mosque During Jewish Holidays

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has issued a stern warning regarding increased incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli settlers and forces, particularly during upcoming Jewish holidays, citing fears of desecration and attempts to alter the holy site’s status.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has issued a statement warning of the growing threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque amid heightened aggression by Israeli settlers and military forces. The movement expressed grave concern that the upcoming Jewish holiday period will be exploited by Israeli authorities and extremist groups to intensify violations and incursions into the mosque, including the performance of Talmudic rituals within its courtyards, under the protection of the occupying Israeli police. These actions are seen as a deliberate effort to fundamentally alter the historical and legal status of the holy site.

The statement, reported by the Palestine Information Center, highlights that the repeated incursions by Israeli settlers and the organization of mass religious ceremonies within the mosque’s compound constitute a desecration of its sanctity and an insult to Islamic holy sites. Hamas emphasized that these events are not random but represent a dangerous, gradual progression that began with increased incursions and settler presence, evolving into the performance of Talmudic rituals, and now involving Israeli ministers and Knesset members attempting to institutionalize these practices and impose a new reality within Al-Aqsa.

Hamas pointed out that the escalation of these violations occurs within a broader pattern of consistently rising numbers of intruders and an intensification in the nature of Talmudic rituals and norm-breaking actions in recent years. This pattern reveals the efforts by these extremist groups, supervised by the Israeli occupation cabinet, to transition from imposed incursions to imposed rituals, ultimately aiming to establish a new religious and political reality that targets the mosque’s Islamic identity and undermines its historical and legal standing.

The movement further warned of the exploitation of the current Jewish holiday season to amplify these transgressions and violations. It also cautioned against the intensification of restrictions by the Israeli enemy on Palestinian worshipers and the removal of individuals present at the mosque, which serves to pave the way for more extensive incursions and the organization of public, more formalized rituals.

Hamas reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque, spanning 144 dunams, is an exclusively Islamic mosque and that the occupation and its endeavors to impose a new reality there lack any legitimacy. The movement declared the Israeli occupation cabinet fully responsible for the consequences and repercussions of these violations against Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem.

The statement affirmed that the Palestinian people, who have made sacrifices in defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque, its identity, and its holy sites, remain steadfast in their right to support and defend it. It warned that assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque and damage to its status and sanctity have historically ignited widespread anger and popular uprisings.

Hamas called upon its people, especially residents of Jerusalem and occupied territories, to increase their presence at Al-Aqsa Mosque and to strengthen their presence in occupied Jerusalem, firmly confronting the plans and schemes of Israeli soldiers and settlers. The movement urged Arab and Islamic governments and peoples, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League to activate their roles and take immediate, effective actions to safeguard Al-Aqsa Mosque, support the people of Jerusalem and Palestine, and defend the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) ascension site.

Finally, Hamas appealed to the international community and the United Nations to fulfill their duties and responsibilities by halting these aggressions and preventing the occupying Israelis from imposing new realities on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
