Iranian Navy Strikes Togo-Flagged Tanker ‘Trend’ in Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced on Friday that it struck the tanker ‘Trend’, which was flying the flag of Togo, for attempting an illegal passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC Navy issued a statement emphasizing that illegal passage through the vital waterway will only result in the destruction of the offending vessel.

The statement from the IRGC Navy began with an invocation, stating, “In the name of God, the vanquisher of tyrants.” It addressed the Iranian nation, noting that the brave fighters and naval forces of the IRGC continue to powerfully control the Strait of Hormuz, denying passage to any aggressors. This comes as the nation marks 200 consecutive nights of public participation in events.

The IRGC Navy detailed that the tanker ‘Trend’, flying the Togo flag, attempted to illegally transit the Strait of Hormuz the previous night. The statement alleged that the vessel was provoked and deceived by the “child-killing American army.” Following the impact, the tanker caught fire and subsequently stopped.

The IRGC Navy reiterated its warning that any unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz will lead to the vessel’s destruction.
