Israel Army Investigates Surge in Espionage Cases Linked to Iran
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli security forces are witnessing a substantial increase in internal investigations within the military, with many cases connected to Iran and its intelligence operations. Data released by the Mehr News Agency, citing GSN, indicates a growing number of security probes focusing on espionage and intelligence-gathering activities attributed to Tehran.
The Israeli military police investigated 10 such cases in 2022. This figure rose to 18 in 2023, saw a dip to 16 in 2024, and surged to 31 in 2025. In the first seven months of 2026 alone, the number of these cases has already reached 31.
Channel 12 has reported that a significant portion of these investigations pertains to suspected espionage and the transfer of classified information. The increase in such cases is a cause for concern among security agencies, particularly amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
