Hamas Denounces Netanyahu’s Desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Calls for Increased Muslim Presence

Hamas has strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent provocative statements and actions concerning the Al-Aqsa Mosque, labeling them as a clear assault on the mosque’s identity and a provocation to Palestinians and the wider Arab and Islamic world. The Palestinian resistance group urged increased presence at the holy site to defend its Islamic character.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas issued a strong statement condemning the actions and inflammatory remarks made by Israeli Prime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding tunnels and excavations beneath the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Western Wall. Hamas stated that Netanyahu’s baseless claims about the so-called “Holy of Holies” represent a blatant aggression against the identity and status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and are designed to incite the sentiments of the Palestinian people and Arab and Islamic nations.

The statement emphasized that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area, courtyards, prayer halls, walls, and gates, will remain an entirely Islamic mosque. “This is an undeniable truth,” Hamas declared, adding that “excavations, aggressions, ceremonies, and the occupation’s attempts to impose a Talmudic narrative in altering the identity of this place or erasing its characteristics are doomed to failure.”

Hamas further asserted that the excavations, displays, and provocative statements by the “criminal enemy,” coupled with their efforts to impose new realities in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, will grant no rights to their holy sites. “Al-Aqsa Mosque will continue to witness the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem and the commitment of the Palestinian nation to its rights over its land and holy sites,” the movement stated.

In response to these dangerous aggressions, Hamas called upon the Palestinian people to go to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, reside there, and increase their presence to defend Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa and protect it from attempts to alter its reality and identity.

The group also urged all Arab and Islamic nations to fulfill their responsibilities towards Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and take action to confront efforts aimed at imposing new realities on Islamic holy sites.

Earlier on Sunday morning, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released videos and images via his official Instagram account documenting his participation in the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque alongside approximately one hundred thousand Zionists. He appeared behind bulletproof glass amidst stringent security measures during the event.

Netanyahu, accompanied by his wife, also visited one of the tunnels excavated beneath the Western Wall, reiterating his unfounded claims of possession over the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Concurrently with these actions, social media platforms circulated images of thousands of settlers storming the area of the Western Wall, located west of Al-Aqsa Mosque, to perform Talmudic rituals.

These images sparked widespread anger and condemnation among social media users. Internet users interpreted Netanyahu’s actions in the Western Wall tunnels and his statements regarding “Jerusalem” as a clear attempt to impose a Zionist narrative on the reality of the city and translate claims into field facts.

Political activists stressed that this issue extends beyond the opening of a tunnel or a transient statement, indicating an organized project aimed at changing the fundamental identity of the site and imposing the Zionists’ desired conditions on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

They specified that excavations beneath Al-Aqsa Mosque pave the way for distorting realities. They warned that the most dangerous aspect of this process is receiving implicit support for the project through silence, normalization, and surrender, which places the responsibility for future consequences on those who remain silent.

Bloggers noted that Netanyahu’s entry into the tunnels and his descriptions of these areas, alongside the expansion of incursions and Talmudic ceremonies involving tens of thousands around the mosque, confirm that Jerusalem’s identity is under threat.
