One Zionist Killed, Another Injured in West Bank Operations
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that a Zionist was killed in a shooting operation near the settlement of ‘Nofei Tsuf’ in the northwestern West Bank, north of Ramallah. Al Jazeera also reported that the perpetrator, driving a vehicle with Palestinian plates, fired at settlers near a water spring in the area before escaping.
Israeli authorities stated that the assailant managed to escape with their weapon, raising concerns about the possibility of further attacks. The Israeli occupation army confirmed dispatching troops to the ‘Nofei Tsuf’ area following the shooting report.
The operations took place concurrently with over 100,000 Zionists storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque, an act described as a desecration of the holy site, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also participating. Al Jazeera correspondent indicated that a significant number of occupation army forces were deployed to the area, blocking access points as part of a search for the perpetrator.
The Israeli police announced that police and army forces were conducting extensive sweeps to locate the shooter near ‘Nofei Tsuf’. The Times of Israel reported that Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, ordered the deployment of additional forces to the ‘Halmish’ area in the West Bank to pursue the perpetrator. The newspaper added that following the shooting near ‘Nofei Tsuf’, the Israeli army established six military checkpoints and blocked the entrances to towns and villages north and east of Ramallah.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the army and Shin Bet forces to reinforce their presence in the West Bank, impose restrictions, and conduct raids and arrest operations. Netanyahu also ordered immediate measures for the demolition of the house belonging to the perpetrator of the deadly attack in ‘Nofei Tsuf’.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces opened fire on two Palestinians near the ‘Ganim’ checkpoint east of Jenin in the northern West Bank. The Israeli army claimed that one Palestinian was killed and another was arrested, without revealing the identity of the deceased. Palestinian institutions accuse the Israeli occupation of carrying out field executions against Palestinians under the pretext of attempted attacks against Israelis. ‘Ganim’ is a settlement east of Jenin that was evacuated in 2005 as part of a unilateral withdrawal plan but was reopened by Israel last August, allowing settlers to return.
