Badr Organization Leader Links Iraqi Disarmament to Foreign Troop Withdrawal

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mohammad Mahdi Al-Bayati, a prominent leader within Iraq‘s Badr Organization, emphasized in an interview with Al Mayadeen that the occupation imposed upon Iraq necessitated the formation of resistance groups. He questioned the guarantees against the resurgence of terrorist factions in the country.

Al-Bayati asserted that without the efforts of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) and other resistance groups, the territories occupied by ISIS and other terrorist organizations would not have been liberated. He further stated that the Badr Organization is prepared to relinquish its weapons, but this is contingent upon the complete withdrawal of all foreign forces from Iraq and the reassertion of Iraqi sovereignty over its airspace and borders.

He noted that thus far, the Iraqi Prime Minister has been unable to relocate any Peshmerga forces from one region to another, highlighting the challenges in consolidating control. Al-Bayati also stressed that the principle of a weapons monopoly should encompass all groups in Iraq, not be limited to those opposing Israel and the United States. He accused the United States of applying pressure with the aim of disarming groups aligned with the resistance axis.

Al-Bayati expressed optimism about the possibility of achieving positive outcomes regarding the issue of weapons monopoly in Iraq in the coming days.
