Heavy Explosions Rock Riyadh, Airport Operations Halted
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, massive explosions rocked Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, early Wednesday morning.
Operations at Riyadh International Airport have reportedly been halted in the wake of these attacks.
The explosions are said to stem from missile and drone assaults carried out by the Yemeni armed forces against the Saudi capital, although official statements from Saudi and Yemeni media have yet to be released on the matter.
Yemeni armed forces have achieved numerous strategic successes in recent months. Following Sanaa’s decision to break the siege imposed by Saudi Arabia in July 2026, Yemeni forces managed to significantly increase their control over southern regions through operations such as the recapture of the strategic port city of Mokha and the coastal area of Khaber.
The Yemeni army’s dominance over these areas has led to strengthened control over the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait, considered one of the world’s most vital shipping lanes.
