Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim: Popular Mobilization Forces Born from Supreme Clerical Decree
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, during a visit to the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Babylon Province, stressed that the PMF is a force that originated from the blessed decree of the supreme clerical authority.
Al-Hakim affirmed during his visit that the PMF proved to be a force more potent than the challenges Iraq faced at that historical juncture. He recalled that the terrorist threat had reached the outskirts of Baghdad during that period, adding that a relationship of cooperation existed between terrorism and the Ba’ath Party.
Referencing the impact of the blessed clerical decree, the sacrifices made, and the honor of Iraqi tribes in reclaiming and liberating lands from the grip of terrorism and safeguarding Iraq, al-Hakim underscored the necessity of protecting the PMF. He advocated for the approval of detailed legislation, including pension laws for the PMF, its institutionalization, continued training and armament, and the maintenance of its constant readiness.
The head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement also called for addressing the needs of the families of PMF martyrs and for perpetuating the memory of these fallen heroes by documenting their stories and records, so their legacy may serve as a source of pride and honor for future generations.
Al-Hakim further emphasized that resolving the issue of weapons outside governmental control would be achieved through their handover to the PMF, recognizing it as an official security institution and a significant element in Iraq’s security equation. He added that the responsibility for protecting the PMF and preventing personal inclinations from influencing it rests with the PMF forces themselves.
He stressed that the PMF must strive to serve the people, making charitable acts within the community and assisting the needy a priority. Al-Hakim concluded by stating that the most important and greatest supporter of the PMF is its popular base.
