Pakistan Claims Downing 8 Afghan Drones Over Its Airspace

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s armed forces announced on Wednesday that they had shot down eight drones attributed to the Afghan government after their entry into Pakistani airspace. Dawn, a Pakistani media outlet, cited security sources indicating that four drones were targeted in areas adjacent to the Torkham border crossing, and four others were intercepted near the city of Kohat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. These sources claimed that Pakistan’s air defense systems, operating with full readiness, intercepted and destroyed the drones.

This event occurred two days after Pakistan conducted airstrikes targeting alleged militant positions in Afghanistan’s border region. The Pakistani government had previously stated that these strikes resulted in the deaths of over 28 individuals. Islamabad has repeatedly accused Afghanistan of harboring and supporting the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), asserting that recent attacks within Pakistan are orchestrated from Afghan territory – claims that Kabul has responded to with varying positions.

Dawn also recalled previous incidents, noting that Pakistani forces downed four drones that had entered Pakistan’s Balochistan province from Afghanistan in July. In June, two additional drones were targeted and brought down in the Qilla Abdullah and Chagai areas.
