US Affirms Commitment to Iraq Troop Withdrawal Timeline

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The U.S. Department of State has addressed the ongoing process of American military withdrawal from Iraq, as reported by Shafaq News via Mehr News Agency.

A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated that Washington is adhering to the timeline agreed upon with Baghdad for the cessation of coalition forces’ military operations in Iraq. The focus remains on completing the withdrawal of U.S. troops by September 30th, coinciding with the declared end of Operation Inherent Resolve.

The spokesperson added that this transition signifies an enhancement of the capabilities of Iraqi security forces, including the Peshmerga, and marks a new chapter in the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The U.S. State Department spokesperson also reaffirmed Washington’s support for the efforts of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaydi. These efforts include asserting Iraq’s sovereignty, preventing attacks within or from Iraqi territory, and fostering a partnership that serves the interests of both countries.
