Hezbollah and Amal Movement in Strongest Position, Says Lebanese Official
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Mohammed Raad, a Member of the Lebanese Parliament and head of the Loyalty to Resistance bloc, has asserted that Hezbollah and the Amal Movement are currently in their strongest positions. In an interview with the “Al-Modn” website, Raad stipulated that any discussion regarding weapon monopolies is contingent upon the withdrawal of the Israeli regime from occupied Lebanese territories, an cessation of its aggressions, and the deployment of the Lebanese army south of the Litani River. He suggested that such developments could pave the way for an agreement on a comprehensive national defense strategy.
Raad indicated his readiness to engage positively with any agreement that guarantees withdrawal and an end to hostile actions, provided it is achieved through indirect negotiations without concessions to the enemy. He also urged the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, to adhere to the constitution and the National Concord Document, stressing the importance of preserving national unity.
Regarding foreign policy, Raad underscored the strength of relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting that Iran insists on prioritizing the Lebanese issue as the first executive item in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He reiterated that the Islamic resistance has staged a sacrificial epic against aggressions under the most sensitive and precise circumstances.
“Some had counted on Hezbollah’s surrender, and the Zionist enemy and its allies believed Hezbollah would be defeated,” Raad added. “The ruling current in Lebanon also sought to steer the resistance towards participating in the mechanism for implementing the steps of the ‘Framework Agreement,’ but all these calculations failed.”
He highlighted the significance of the field lessons learned from the operations in the Al-Tayer heights, describing them as crucial for the model of continuous confrontation with the enemy. Raad expressed confidence that Israelis would ponder the enigmas presented by these operations. He stated that while they do not wish to reveal these complexities to the enemy or its allies at this juncture, preferring ambiguity, the magnitude of the resistance fighters’ actions and the precision of their coordination in the Al-Tayer operation would become evident in the future.
Raad concluded by stating, “When the enemy’s withdrawal is achieved, its aggressions cease, and the army is prepared to implement Resolution 1701 concerning the area south of the Litani, then the necessary preconditions will be met to discuss weapon monopolies and the role of the resistance in national defense, in accordance with what is agreed upon within the framework of a comprehensive national strategy.”
