Iraqis Protest Flight Restrictions Between Iran and Iraq Amid US Pressure

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, residents of Basra and Baghdad provinces protested on Tuesday afternoon through public gatherings against decisions related to restricting flights between Iraq and Iran. The organizers of these gatherings described the recent actions as being in line with the demands of the United States and in pursuit of American sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, urging the Iraqi government to oppose these decisions.

These protests have intensified as several Iraqi political figures have also reacted to the restrictions. In response, members of the Basra Parliament announced the commencement of a signature-gathering process to convene an emergency session in parliament, calling for the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transportation, and the head of the Civil Aviation Organization.

The protesting crowd in central Baghdad chanted slogans such as “If you cannot reach Mosul, let her fight us!” The gathering in central Baghdad rejected the flight ban with the Islamic Republic with slogans like “No, no to siege!” and condemned government decisions that align with American pressure.
