Pakistan Successfully Test-Fires Anti-Ship Cruise Missile from New Submarine
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Pakistan Navy announced the successful test-firing of an anti-ship cruise missile from its first Hangor-class submarine in the Arabian Sea. This exercise represents the inaugural weapons launch from this recently commissioned submarine.
The public relations wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces stated that the submarine PNS Hangor launched a long-range anti-ship cruise missile targeting a designated objective, which it successfully hit. Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Commander of the Pakistan Navy, observed the exercise and emphasized the importance of bolstering underwater capabilities to establish maritime deterrence.
This submarine arrived in Karachi in June 2026 and is the lead vessel of eight Hangor-class submarines that Pakistan intends to induct into service as part of its defense cooperation with China. These submarines are equipped with advanced combat systems, modern sensors, air-independent propulsion, and stealth capabilities.
The Pakistan Navy has declared that this successful test demonstrates the nation’s operational readiness and ongoing efforts to enhance its capacity to defend its maritime borders.
