Iran Captures Advanced US Submersible Drone in Strait of Hormuz
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Al Jazeera, in a report titled “Remus 600 in Iran‘s Hands; The US Fleet’s Intelligence Eye,” has highlighted the latest seizure by Iranian forces. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on [Date of original report + 1 day, assuming this is a current event], that it had gained control of an American Remus 600 unmanned submersible drone, considered one of the U.S.’s most significant underwater espionage assets.
The Remus 600 possesses distinctive tactical features. This UUV measures four meters in length and can operate up to 600 meters below the surface, primarily for escorting vessels. Utilizing GPS, it can remain under control for up to 70 consecutive hours. Its main mission involves locating sea mines, transmitting their positions, sending images, and gathering intelligence within the Strait of Hormuz.
Previously, on September 8th, Iran reported the capture of another UUV named Dive-AD, capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters.
Yesterday, the IRGC Navy announced the capture of a second UUV belonging to the United States military in the Strait of Hormuz. This particular UUV is identified as a smart and advanced submersible, designated Remus 600.
The statement detailed that IRGC Navy combatants, through a coordinated and complex operation, leveraging intelligence superiority and electronic warfare capabilities, successfully apprehended an advanced UUV of the United States military that was engaged in espionage activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
This Remus 600 UUV has been seized by IRGC Navy combatants and is now under the possession of the force’s specialists for data recovery purposes.
The IRGC Navy emphatically declares that the Strait of Hormuz is under its purview and that it is resolutely and continuously confronting any dangerous movements and unauthorized transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
