Hormuz Strait Incident Reported, Crew Safe Amidst Unidentified Projectile Strike
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has announced receiving a delayed report concerning an incident in the Strait of Hormuz on the evening of September 28, 2026.
The UKMTO’s website stated that the organization received information from a third-party source indicating that a vessel was targeted by a suspicious, unidentified projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The strike caused a fire, which has since been brought under control. The vessel is reportedly still underway, and its crew is safe.
The Strait of Hormuz has been the scene of several incidents involving commercial shipping in recent weeks. According to UKMTO reports, numerous vessels and oil tankers transiting this vital waterway were struck by unidentified projectiles in September. These attacks have, in some instances, led to crew injuries, fires, and damage to vessels. Notably, on September 21, an oil tanker entering the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an unknown projectile, resulting in minor injuries to two crew members. Additionally, on September 23, a cargo ship caught fire after being targeted by an unidentified projectile, prompting the evacuation of its crew.
The Strait of Hormuz has experienced increased insecurity following the United States’ and the Zionist regime’s aggression into Iranian territory. Tehran has declared its readiness to guarantee the security of the strait, provided that these incursions cease.
