Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan to Attend Riyadh Strategic Committee Meeting on Mecca Defense Pact

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to participate in a strategic committee meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, focusing on the ‘Joint Defense Agreement of Mecca’ initiative. The meeting is expected to address regional security threats and collaborative defense strategies.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a strategic committee meeting of the framework known as the ‘Joint Defense Agreement of Mecca’ in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Monday. Turkish National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler and Chief of the General Staff Army Gen. Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu will also be present at the gathering.

Fidan is expected to present Turkey’s perspectives on institutionalizing the alliance and outline future steps. He is also anticipated to comment on existing threats to peace and stability in West Asia, regional developments, and the security of international trade routes.

The ‘Mecca Agreement’ was signed on August 7 by Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia in Mecca. Its stated objective is to enhance the security of the three nations through joint deterrence and defense, and to create regional solutions for security challenges.

The first meeting of the political and defense strategic committee for this alliance was previously held in Istanbul on August 31, 2026, hosted by Turkey.
