Russia Warns of Environmental Impact from Ukraine’s Black Sea Ship Attacks

Russia has expressed concern over the environmental consequences of Ukraine’s attacks on ships in the Black Sea, accusing Western nations of ignoring these impacts in their anti-Russia efforts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency,
Sergey Kononchenko, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Climate Affairs, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that Western countries are not reacting to the environmental repercussions of Kyiv’s attacks on ships in the Black Sea. He believes this is because they consider any action in the fight against Russia to be acceptable.

Kononchenko added that the silence of Western countries is “completely understandable.” He elaborated that from their perspective, “any action in the fight against Russia is positive.”

The diplomat highlighted that Western nations are disregarding the Black Sea’s ecosystems in their pursuit of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia.

The conflict in Ukraine has intensified in recent months, with both sides targeting vessels associated with each other.
