Former Qatar PM Seeks Clear Ties With Iran, Cites Existential Threats to GCC

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, former Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim, has stated that efforts are underway to establish clearer relations with Iran, while simultaneously warning of “hostile plots and conspiracies” targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and identifying Iran as the “main enemy.” Speaking on regional developments, bin Jassim emphasized the pursuit of peace and the establishment of transparent relationships with Iran, though he asserted that the GCC currently faces “numerous hostile plots and conspiracies.” These alleged conspiracies, he claimed, aim to deplete the GCC’s resources and seek political and economic dominance over its member states.
Regarding the attacks by Yemeni armed forces on Saudi Arabia, bin Jassim called for practical and decisive support for Saudi Arabia. He asserted that the continuous threat faced by Saudi Arabia is not orchestrated from within Yemen but is designed and managed from outside the country. The former Qatari Prime Minister urged GCC member states to set aside minor disputes and demonstrate clear, operational unity.
Highlighting Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role within the GCC, bin Jassim noted its status as the largest member and stated that its stability and strength, irrespective of existing differences, translate to the strength of all member nations. He further claimed that GCC countries are still confronting an “existential danger,” adding that it has become “completely clear that Iran is our main enemy.” Bin Jassim concluded by stressing the urgent need for immediate unity and a thorough examination of the current circumstances, urging GCC nations to act with greater strength than before to overcome the crisis.
