Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jail ‘Jalameh’ Face Severe Medical Neglect, Report Claims

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Palestinian prisoners in Gaza held at the Israeli Jalameh prison are suffering from a severe lack of medical attention, with the Israeli regime bearing full responsibility for their deteriorating physical conditions. Data released by the Al-Mayadeen news agency, citing the office for information on Palestinian prisoners, detailed that inmates at the facility are experiencing broken bones and head injuries, with some lacking access to even basic painkillers. The office emphasized that the pain endured by these prisoners is so intense that it prevents them from sleeping at night. Furthermore, a scarcity of cleaning and hygiene supplies has reportedly facilitated the spread of fungal infections within the prison.
One Palestinian detainee, suffering from thalassemia and high blood pressure, has lost 50 kilograms due to the absence of necessary treatment. Previously, an investigative report by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, based on testimonies from five recently released Palestinian prisoners, exposed instances of torture, starvation, beatings, and the denial of medical care in Israeli prisons and detention centers. The report indicated that Palestinian detainees have reported mistreatment and inhumane detention conditions at Megiddo, Nafha, Ketziot, Ofer, and Damon prisons, as well as a military detention center in Hawara. These former prisoners revealed losing between 15 to 50 percent of their body weight, and spoke of collective punishments, frequent humiliation, the prevalence of scabies, and delays in medical services.
