Red Crescent: Thousands of people in Gaza are at risk of starvation
According to Webangah News quoted by Tasnim News agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent announced this Wednesday that thousands of people in The Gaza Strip is facing the risk of hunger and famine and the current humanitarian aid cannot meet the urgent needs to reduce hunger. The Palestinian Red Crescent also called for the reopening of the crossings and sending humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip and emphasized that the regime The occupier is deliberately targeting the forces active in the field of relief.
In this regard, UNRWA Commissioner General Philip Lazzarini said that nearly 2,000 children in the Gaza Strip have lost one or both of their legs since the beginning of the war.
Lazzarini said in a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland: “Basically, every day we have 10 children who, on average, lose one or two legs. They shake hands.” He explained that these numbers do not include children who have lost their upper limbs. He said that these statistics are based on figures issued by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Lazzarini added: “10 children a day means about 2,000 children, after more than 260 days of this brutal war; But the effects of the Gaza war will never go away and the attacks are increasing every day and the risk of starvation is increasing every moment.” He said that the extent of death and destruction in Gaza is catastrophic and terrifying, Israel has used explosive weapons in populated areas and completely destroyed residential neighborhoods. The humanitarian aid that has been allowed to enter Gaza is far less than what is needed.
