Sanctions that are supposed to target the Russian economy in line with the previous packages.
The head of the European Commission confirmed in the European Parliament on Wednesday that the European Union is working on the 16th package of sanctions against Russia.
Von der Leyen said: Last week, we passed our 15th sanctions package. The package includes measures against Russia’s shadow fleet and sanctions circumvention channels. And the 16th package is being prepared.
The European official said that EU sanctions are hurting the Russian economy. According to von Derlein, the ruble is at its lowest level since the beginning of the war, despite extensive countermeasures by the Russian central bank. In some parts of the Russian economy, inflation has reached 70%.
