Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Announces After Meeting with Ahmad al-Shara (Mohammed al-Julani),He Pledged No Threats to Zionists from Syria
Reported by the English section of “webangah News Agency” citing Mehr News Agency and Al-mayadeen, Barbara Leaf, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, emphasized that Ahmad al-Shara, the current self-proclaimed head of Syria’s goverment, acknowledged Zionist security concerns and pledged not to allow any faction or state to threaten Israel from Syrian territory.
The meeting between Leaf and al-Shara took place in Damascus shortly before her departure from office, which she described as positive and productive.Leaf also highlighted al-Shara’s pragmatism and executive approach in handling regional issues, stressing that Mohammed al-Julani is determined to foster good relations with all regional parties.The former U.S. deputy secretary further expressed hope for a new chapter in relations between the Zionist regime and Syria under al-Shara’s governance.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, Leaf stated: “During my meeting with al-Shara, I was impressed by him—his pragmatism surprised officials in the previous U.S. administration.”
