According to the English section of Webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Rai Al-Youm, Steve Wittkof, the U.S. President’s special envoy for West Asia, emphasized that Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet is prolonging the war in the Gaza Strip.
He made these remarks during a meeting with families of Zionist prisoners, stating: “We demand the return of prisoners, but Israel is not ready to end the war.”
Wittkof told the families he disagrees with Netanyahu’s new approach in Gaza and believes achieving a new ceasefire and securing prisoner releases is the correct next step.
The families noted that Wittkof’s criticism of Netanyahu was unprecedented in its directness.
