Modi praises Russian S400 systems in Operation Sindoor against Pakistan
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn TASS, Narendra Modi, India’s Prime Minister, described the role of S-400 air defense systems in New Delhi’s recent operations against Islamabad as decisive.
In a statement published on the Indian government’s website, Modi also praised domestically produced Akash missile systems. The Times of India previously reported that Modi visited the Adampur Air Base in northwestern Punjab province. During this visit, he posed for photos alongside an S-400 system acquired from Russia.
Tensions between India and pakistan escalated following an April 22 attack on a group of tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, which left 26 dead.
On May 7, India launched Operation “Sindoor,” targeting what it called terrorist hideouts in Pakistan.Islamabad retaliated with countermeasures.
On May 10, New Delhi and Islamabad agreed to a ceasefire after military negotiations and halted all field operations. However, hours later, drones were spotted in several areas across Jammu and Kashmir as well as Punjab and Rajasthan—prompting active air defense responses and power outages.
The Hindustan Times reported on May 12 that India would engage militarily with Pakistan but ruled out any political contact.
