Qatar Emir: We call for comprehensive talks to establish peace in the region
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump and emphasized their shared goal of establishing peace in the region, expressing hope that it would materialize this time.
The Emir of Qatar told Trump: “You are a man of peace and seek to establish peace in the region.”
He added: “We can work together to achieve peace in our region and other areas, including between Ukraine and Russia.”
Tamim bin Hamad told trump that Qatar would share its experiences from hosting the 2022 World Cup wiht the U.S. for the 2026 tournament.
He said: “We are seriously committed to thorough discussions on establishing regional peace as well as issues like investment and energy.”
donald Trump responded by thanking Qatar’s Emir: “I’d like to thank you for everything.”
The U.S. President further noted: “You are helping us advance peace in several regions, including Russia and Ukraine, and we will see progress on this matter.”
[Regional Context:] Trump arrived in Qatar today as part of his regional tour after previously meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to Saudi Arabia. He also held talks with Ahmed al-Shara (Jolani), Syria’s self-proclaimed ruler and former leader of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), proposing normalization between syria and Israel.
