Work schedule of Arab summit meeting and draft Baghdad statement
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Shafaq News, the 34th session of the Arab League Summit is set to begin today, Saturday, in Baghdad with the participation of arab leaders under strict security measures.
Based on the announced schedule, the summit will commence at 10:00 AM local time as arab leaders arrive at the venue, followed by a group photo. The opening ceremony will be held publicly at 11:00 AM, where Iraqi officials—as current chairs—will deliver speeches after receiving presidency from Bahrain.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, and othre Arab leaders will also address attendees. At 12:30 PM, closed-door working sessions will begin to review resolutions. The public closing ceremony will follow with the issuance of The Baghdad Declaration, and host country for next session announced.
The fifth Economic and Social Growth Summit is also scheduled for today. Its opening ceremony starts at 3:00 PM.
The draft The baghdad Declaration, per released details:
- Supports inclusive dialog in Syria;
- Respects Syrian people’s choices;
- Calls for thorough political transition addressing all societal groups;
- Opposes displacement plans for Palestinians inside/outside Gaza;
- Demands* immediate ceasefire and steps toward a two-state solution.
