Ecuador’s newly elected president was sworn into office ‍before the National Assembly after a decisive ⁣victory in the presidential ‍runoff election.

Daniel Noboa, Ecuador’s ⁢president-elect, ⁤took the oath of⁢ office in parliament following his victory in the presidential election, webangah News ⁣Agency reported.

Addressing supporters gathered⁤ outside the legislative⁤ building, Noboa vowed: “We‍ will restore progress ⁢to our⁤ country, which⁣ has been ⁣and continues to be targeted by mafia attacks.”

Representatives from ⁢the left-wing Citizen ⁢Revolution ⁤party—whose candidate lost the election—were notably absent from the ceremony.

Noboa’s win came amid allegations of electoral fraud by⁢ opposition groups, who ‌demanded a recount from Ecuador’s ‌National⁤ Electoral Council in several polling stations. The request was rejected by authorities.

The new president faces urgent challenges, primarily addressing ⁣Ecuador’s security‌ crisis and economic instability.
