Iraqi PM’s Special Envoy Meets with Joulani
Izzat al-Shabandar, Special Envoy of Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Meets with Ahmad al-Shara at Syrian Presidential Palace
The Syrian Presidency announced that Izzat al-Shabandar, the special envoy of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, held talks with Ahmad al-Shara, head of Syria’s ruling body, according to a statement reported by webangah News Agency.
The meeting took place on Monday at the People’s Palace in Damascus. Al-Shabandar’s visit coincides with recent remarks by al-Sudani emphasizing that Iraq considers Syria integral to its national security.
The Iraqi leader also suggested baghdad could serve as an honest mediator between rival regional capitals.
