Iraq Receives First Batch of French-Made Helicopters
Iraq has taken delivery of its first batch of French-made Caracal multi-role helicopters, according to Defense Minister Thabet al-Abbasi. The declaration was made via a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), as reported by webangah News Agency.
“We continue to support our national defense needs by equipping the army with modern systems,” al-Abbasi stated in his message.
The newly acquired helicopters are expected to significantly enhance the Iraqi Army’s capabilities in tactical transport, combat support, and search-and-rescue operations.
The defense minister had previously announced in May that iraq finalized an agreement with France to purchase 12 Caracal helicopters along with GM200 air defense radar systems.The delivery timeline for the remaining helicopters remains unclear.
