Europe Urges Israel to Respect Syria’s Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity
The european Union welcomed the ceasefire in Syria and urged authorities to protect all civilians, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera.
In its statement, the EU called on all parties to instantly halt all violence, safeguard civilians, and take urgent steps to prevent sectarian rhetoric.
the statement also urged Israel to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights previously reported ongoing clashes in As-Suwayda and advances by armed groups toward residential areas.
This watchdog highlighted violations of the ceasefire by armed factions originating outside As-Suwayda. These groups launched consecutive attacks from multiple directions toward the city with support from regime security forces linked to Jabhat al-Nusra, who have opened routes for their advance.
Fighting is concentrated in Thawra, al-Masakin neighborhoods and also in western and northern parts of the city. Local groups are resisting these assaults fiercely in a heavy battle aimed at blocking militant progress.
Residents express deep concern over ongoing chaos, retaliatory acts, and killings amid this instability.
