According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News agency and Sputnik, Osama Rabie, head of Egypt’s Suez canal Authority, emphasized that Egypt does not grant any special privileges to American or non-American vessels passing through the canal.
He added that Egypt remains committed to the 1888 convention, which prohibits discrimination among ships and tariffs in the Suez Canal.
Earlier, former President Trump had demanded that American vessels pass freely through the Suez Canal without charge.
Rabie acknowledged the effectiveness of Yemen’s armed forces’ military operations in the Red Sea but stressed these operations have led to reduced ship traffic. he also stated that Egypt has taken no action against Yemen.
