Militants Ambush Pakistani Army Convoy; 12 Soldiers Killed
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and reuters, 12 Pakistani military personnel were killed after militants carried out a terrorist attack on an army convoy in northwest Pakistan.
The pakistani army convoy was ambushed by militants in the Badr area of South Waziristan near the Afghan border.
The Pakistan Army confirmed the death of 12 soldiers during the clash and reported that 13 militants were also killed in the ensuing firefight.
Additionally, Pakistani security officials stated that at least four people were injured in the incident.
The terrorist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Islamabad says is based in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the attack. The group also announced it had seized weapons and drones from the Pakistani military during the assault.
Islamabad accuses Afghanistan’s caretaker Taliban government of providing shelter to this group with support from India-a claim rejected by both New Delhi and Kabul.
TTP attacks against Pakistani security forces have intensified since the Taliban took control in Afghanistan.
