Orban: Ukraine’s EU Membership Means War in Europe; We Strongly Oppose It
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Jazeera via Mehr News Agency, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared on Wednesday that Ukraine joining the European Union would lead to war in Europe and the transfer of European money to Ukraine. He emphasized that Hungary is firmly against this.
Orbán added that Ukraine’s EU membership goes far beyond what is necessary. He said a strategic agreement on cooperation between europe and Ukraine concerning Kyiv is sufficient. “A mistake by any major power could trigger World War III at any moment,” he warned.
This follows previous comments from Orbán, who described Ukrainian membership in the EU as a threat to his country and said it cannot happen.
Meanwhile, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reinforced this stance by labeling Ukraine as “the most corrupt country in Europe.” He cautioned that Kyiv’s accession to the EU would open Brussels’ doors to organized crime.
