Baghdad Implements Security Measures to Ensure Safety of Iraq Parliamentary Elections
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing iraq’s WAAR news agency, reported that the high Electoral Security Committee has arrested individuals involved in purchasing citizens’ electoral cards and those tearing down parliamentary candidates’ campaign posters.
The committee’s statement said that intensive field operations by the National Security Institution and other security agencies continue under their assigned missions to guarantee election security and integrity.
It added that these operations have so far led to multiple arrests on charges related to electoral violations, including buying electoral cards and vandalizing candidate posters across several areas. These acts constitute offenses punishable by law, disrupt democratic competition, and negatively affect social peace.
The statement emphasized that legal measures are being enforced against offenders, while proactive intelligence and field efforts continue to monitor any illegal activity or actions aiming to disturb the election process.
Citizens and relevant parties were urged to respect election laws and report any violations through official channels.
It is noted that Iraq’s parliamentary elections are scheduled for November 11, 2025.
