The ⁢International Press Institute awarded the “world Press Freedom Hero” prize to Palestinian martyr journalist Mariam Abu Daqah in a ceremony attended‍ by over 600 journalists worldwide.

According to⁢ the English section of ⁢ webangah News Agency,‍ citing Mehr News Agency, Palestinian media reported that at the 75th World Congress of the International Press Institute ‌held on Friday in Vienna, Mariam⁢ Abu Daqah, a Palestinian martyr⁣ journalist, was named one of seven recipients of the⁣ “World press Freedom Hero” award.

This prestigious ‌award, given annually to journalists from around the world, recognized Abu Daqah this year for her bravery and sacrifice in reporting on the realities of the Gaza war.

The International Press Institute stated: “Mariam Abu Daqah repeatedly risked her life to show through her images the ongoing tragedies in Gaza. Her martyrdom-unaccounted for by⁣ anyone-is a symbol of hazardous conditions faced by Gaza’s journalists ⁢including targeted attacks, displacement, and hunger.

Last year, this award was collectively presented to journalists from Gaza; however, this year it was bestowed individually on Abu Daqah to honor her courage in documenting the truth ⁣about the Gaza conflict and paying its ultimate price.

The organization also renewed its call for accountability for those responsible for crimes against journalists⁤ in Gaza.
