Ortega Engages in Consultations with Lebanese Officials

Morgan Ortagus, Deputy Special Envoy of the United States to Lebanon, met with Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, during her visit to the country, according to Mehr News Agency via webangah News Agency.
The discussions focused on the overall situation and recent developments regarding daily attacks and incursions by the Israeli regime into Lebanon. They also addressed the work of a five-member technical committee tasked with monitoring the ceasefire mechanism and enhancing its effectiveness.
Following her meeting with Speaker Berri, Ortagus met with President Joseph Aoun in Baabda for further talks.
The lebanese president emphasized during their meeting that citizens in southern Lebanon must be able to return safely to their homes. He highlighted the urgent need for compensating damages suffered by residents especially as winter approaches.
He also stressed activating the ceasefire monitoring committee’s role in order to halt ongoing Israeli attacks against Lebanon. Additionally, he called for implementing UN security Council Resolution 1701 in southern Lebanon and enabling army deployment along southern borders.
