Head of Turkey’s Intelligence Agency Meets with Hamas Chief Negotiator

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency, Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization, met in Istanbul with Khalil al-Hayya, member of Hamas’s political bureau and chief negotiator for the movement, along with his delegation.
Anadolu agency reported that during the meeting, the Hamas delegation expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish government for thier role as mediators and guarantors in achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and efforts to ensure its implementation.
Despite violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli regime, Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining it.
The two sides discussed necessary measures to guarantee continuity of the ceasefire, ways to resolve ongoing issues, and how to implement subsequent phases.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, since signing the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel-which was brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey under U.S. supervision-241 Palestinians have been killed and 609 injured due to Israeli attacks.
In Israel’s nearly two-year war on Gaza beginning October 8, 2023, supported by the United States, 68,875 Palestinians have been killed and 170,679 wounded. More than 90 percent of Gaza Strip infrastructure has been destroyed.
