Jolani Arrives in the U.S.; Symbolic Operations Against ISIS Launch Across Syria

According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Syrian state media reported that abu Muhammad al-Joulani has embarked on an official visit to the United States.
Al-Joulani arrived in Washington on Saturday evening, coinciding with Syria’s Ministry of Interior announcing a widespread operation against ISIS across the country. He is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. This marks the first official visit by a Syrian head of state to the United States since Syria’s independence in 1946.
having been removed from America’s ”terrorist” list last Friday, al-Joulani has so far failed to take significant action against Israel’s occupation of syrian territory and continues pursuing reconciliation with this regime.
US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack claims al-Joulani’s visit likely aims at signing an agreement for Damascus to join the international coalition against ISIS.
Reports from Reuters and AFP indicate that Washington is preparing to station forces at an airbase near Damascus under the pretext of monitoring a security agreement between Syria and Israel.
Meanwhile, al-Joulani plans to seek financial support for rebuilding Syria during his trip. According to World Bank estimates, reconstruction following 13 years of civil war will cost at least 216 billion dollars.
