Moscow: Putin Has Not Ordered Preparations for Nuclear Tests

Dmitry Peskov,⁢ the Kremlin spokesperson, said Sunday ⁣that Russia and China do not ⁢conduct nuclear ⁤weapons tests. He emphasized that ‌President Vladimir ⁢putin has not issued any order to start preparing for nuclear tests. ‍”we first need to assess whether Russia needs​ to take such action,” ​he added,stressing that‌ the decision to carry out nuclear testing must be thoroughly considered.

Peskov further noted that Putin has repeatedly affirmed⁢ Russia’s commitment to its ‌obligations under the⁢ ban on nuclear testing.‌ However,if another country violates these commitments,Russia may ⁣be forced to act ⁢in order to maintain strategic parity.

Regarding advanced technologies like Burevestnik and Poseidon,Peskov described them as cutting-edge global ⁢developments that could eventually appear in ⁣other ⁢countries but not⁣ in the near future. He​ also called on Washington to clarify claims ‍made by former President Trump about nuclear testing, ⁤stating, “This is ⁤a⁢ very serious matter.”
