Sudan Army Declares General Mobilization
According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Arabiya, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of the Sovereign Council and commander-in-chief of the Sudanese army, stated that the ultimate outcome of the battle with the Rapid Support Forces will be decided in Darfur. He ruled out any ceasefire or negotiations with the insurgents and called on all citizens capable of bearing arms to join military operations.
Al-Burhan emphasized that complete disarmament of these forces is a mandatory condition for any dialog. He added that fighting will continue and it’s conclusion will take place in Darfur, located in western Sudan.
Large parts of Sudan continue to witness intensified clashes between the army and Rapid Support Forces. These battles have expanded beyond Darfur-where these forces have gained control over much territory-to neighboring areas in Kordofan state.
